The G7 ambassadors, in a joint letter received by the Government of Ukraine, expressed recommendations regarding the reboot of the corporate governance system of NNEGC “Energoatom.”
International partners noted that the early termination of the mandate of the previous Supervisory Board of Energoatom requires well-balanced decisions.
“G7 representatives emphasized that, in order to restore trust, it is essential to form a new Supervisory Board through an open, competitive and transparent selection process – in line with OECD standards, with the involvement of an independent recruiter, and in accordance with procedures applied to all strategic Ukrainian state-owned enterprises,” said Oleksii Sobolev, Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.
The competition and appointment of the renewed Supervisory Board of Energoatom is expected to be completed by the end of this year. During the competition period, the Government will temporarily perform the functions of the Supervisory Board in full coordination with international partners. In addition, a competitive selection of state representatives to the company will be introduced. On 18 November 2025, the Government instructed the Ministry of Economy to submit proposals to the Committee regarding candidates for the state-appointed members of the Supervisory Board of Energoatom.
These changes are part of the Government’s action plan to reboot the governance of state-owned companies, particularly in the energy sector.
The Government of Ukraine expresses its gratitude to G7 partners for their clear position in support of corporate governance reforms, as well as for the systemic dialogue and willingness to contribute to rebooting the governance system of Energoatom and other state-owned enterprises.
