Our focus is on accelerating Ukraine’s economic recovery and European integration – Oleksii Sobolev at a meeting with G7 and EU ambassadors

On August 26, the team of the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine, led by Minister Oleksii Sobolev, met with ambassadors of the G7 and EU countries.

The event was attended by representatives of the embassies of Canada, the EU, the USA, the UK, Germany, Japan, Italy and France. The Ukrainian side presented the priority tasks and a new team of the united Ministry.

«The Mineconomy is currently faced with the task of creating a fundamentally new institutional platform. The Ministry covers 15 out of 35 EU chapters in key areas of the economy, environment and agriculture. As the national coordinator for the implementation of the Ukraine Facility program, we ensure the execution and monitoring of the implementation of the Ukraine Plan. Today, our team is focused on working on fast-tracking the Plan’s steps and further integration with the EU», said Oleksii Sobolev, Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.

The Minister also presented key priorities, including:

  • development of the private sector and industry;
  • deregulation and economic freedom;
  • privatization of state property;
  • attraction of investments and development of exports;
  • digitalization: two mechanisms for collecting feedback from business were presented;
  • humanitarian demining;
  • human capital development and a new Labor Code;
  • state programs to assist farmers in frontline areas.

Representatives of the embassies of the G7 and EU countries expressed their support for the strategic priorities of the Ministry, as well as their capacity to provide consultations and cooperate to achieve the set goals. On a number of reforms, the parties agreed to interact more deeply, for example, in the areas of privatization, deregulation and combating corruption.

As separate important landmarks, Minister Oleksii Sobolev noted the joint international events planned for this year in the G7 countries: the Ukraine Mine Action Conference (UMAC 2025), which will be held in October in Tokyo, the ReBuild Ukraine Conference in November in Warsaw, the German-Ukrainian Business Forum in Berlin in December, and a number of others.

The Minister thanked the representatives of the G7 countries for in-depth work with each country. As well as for their assistance in implementing reforms, expertise, and assistance in the reconstruction of Ukraine.
